About Scott

Scott and his sister and little brother were raised by a single mom who was a teacher. Scott spent a lot of time after school in her classroom helping with bulletin boards and getting to know the other teachers and other students. He says, “It was a challenging to be raised without a dad. Except for a God rescue, seriously, I’d be in prison, addicted, or dead from loving fast cars.”

Scott is married to his wife, Susan, and has 4 children. Susan, a certified teacher, used her college education to homeschool their 4 children – two of whom are now in college. Scott also has grandchildren, too, and absolutely loves them. The final member of their pack is a long-haired dachshund. Scott says he’s happy that he and Susan spent time having dinner together, sharing the day’s highs and lows, and reading inspirational stories to the kids.

Scott has been a scout master, Sunday school teacher, coach, but mostly a child transporter and spectator at his kids’ sporting events.

About Sam

Sam asks, “Does it seem like the hardest things in life are also the best ones?” Sam and her husband, Carlos, have a little girl who was born with Down Syndrome and had seizures for most of her first year of life. They spent hours in the hospital, tired and scared, always wondering if the next treatment would work. Their daughter began to heal after a women’s Christmas dinner event where 300 women prayed for her. Since then, Sam and Carlos have seen what a gift God gave them in Zoe. Sam says, “She delights in life, prays often, and is a painter with some pretty amazing talent. Our faith is so strong now. We know on this earth there will be hard times. We know the answer. His name is Jesus.”

Sam’s favorite food is triple ginger snaps from Trader Joes, and she has cool side job. She is the voice of Princess Peach and Toad in Nintendo’s Mario Kart games. She says she would not change a thing.
